  • The Direct Edit function of OpenCms

    Edit each content element directly from the frontend preview by clicking on a "Direct Edit" button.

  • Managing structured content items (e.g. news)

    Use custom structured content items with an underlying XML Schema Definition on your website and edit them with the integrated form based editor.

  • Integrated image processing

    The integrated image scaling and resizing allows the manipulation of commonly used image formats. Additionally, some image processing filters can be applied.

  • Full text search engine

    Full text search in website documents like HTML pages, structured contents, office documents and many more is supported with a lot of configuration options.

  • Visual comparison of document versions

    All contents are fully versioned in OpenCms and can be visually compared with each other to have an overview over all changes.

  • Multi site management in OpenCms

    One OpenCms installation can be used to maintain multiple websites using their own set of resources and user/group accounts.

  • Unicode content

    Contents in international character sets can easily be handled in OpenCms because of the full Unicode (UTF-() support. This simplifies the creation of multi language websites.

  • ACL based permission system

    Access to all OpenCms contents can optionally be restricted by the integrated permission management system based on access control lists.

  • OpenCms 17 available

    Apr 9, 2024 - OpenCms 17 gives content managers the new app "Date search" to find content that has been changed in a certain time range. The "Websites" app allows to easily export the content of a complete site for archiving. An option has been added to hide "sensitive" content in the Offline project. The default Mercury template has been further improved, e.g. with SEO optimized job postings, a "spacer" function and marker clusters for maps. OpenCms 17 has also been tested and certified using Java 17 LTS and 21 LTS.

    Apr 9, 2024 - Test OpenCms using the official image from the Docker hub registry - the fastest way to evaluate and test OpenCms. The image is well suited for evaluation and test purposes of the latest OpenCms release. We provide a docker-compose file to get OpenCms and the database running with just one command.
