The project mechanism of OpenCms provides an integrated workflow environment with Offline "staging" and Online "live" systems on the same server. All content is maintained in projects. The number of projects is unlimited. Changes to the contents can be reviewed, thoroughly tested and approved in the Offline "staging" project before the content is published. If changed content is to become "live", that is visible to the public, it is simply published to the Online view.
Content managers that are not allowed to publish content can assemble a list of resources they have modified and perform a release action. Then a responsible person will automatically be informed about the changes the content manager has done by email. The email offers a link that will open the publish dialog showing the assembled list of changes directly after logging in.
