If you plan to install OpenCms for the first time, you should read the Installation overview and the following pages in order to obtain a proper setup of the system - it's very simple in a standard environment based on Tomcat.
For building a web site managed by OpenCms, you only need a running instance of the system and some knowledge how to build OpenCms templates. For detailed information, please download the OpenCms documentation.
As experienced Java Developer, you might want to build OpenCms from the sources. Read the Core build instructions and dig into the source code.
If you want to contribute to the OpenCms project and take part in the further development of the system, read How to contribute and provide the OpenCms community with examples, new modules and improved documentation!
To support the community and the further development, we also provide a mailing list, a bug tracking system and a Github repository for developers to obtain detailed information and to access the latest version of the source code.
Apr 25, 2023 - OpenCms 15 provides role-based control to restrict who is allowed to update the sitemap configuration, including an editor for modifying selected sitemap attributes by any content manager. The new launchpad app "Person data search" reveals personal user data stored in the VFS. The Mercury template adds more than 1800 optional icons from the Bootstrap collection and numerous further enhancements.

Apr 25, 2023 - Alkacon OCEE 15 is the latest OCEE release for OpenCms 15. This version features a new scheduled job for LDAP synchronization and fixes a number of issues that have been detected in Alkacon OCEE 14.
Oct 11, 2022 - This version features XML schema versioning with automatic content rewrite. Also new is support for two factor authentication (2FA) in the user login. A source code editor widget is available for multi-line text input fields. The Mercury template has been updated to use Bootstrap 5.2.
