OpenCms Development

This section provides Information about how to participate in the OpenCms development process and technical information about using OpenCms.

If you plan to install OpenCms for the first time, you should read the Installation overview and the following pages in order to obtain a proper setup of the system - it's very simple in a standard environment based on Tomcat.

For building a web site managed by OpenCms, you only need a running instance of the system and some knowledge how to build OpenCms templates. For detailed information, please download the OpenCms documentation.

As experienced Java Developer, you might want to build OpenCms from the sources. Read the Core build instructions and dig into the source code.

If you want to contribute to the OpenCms project and take part in the further development of the system, read How to contribute and provide the OpenCms community with examples, new modules and improved documentation!

To support the community and the further development, we also provide a mailing list, a bug tracking system and a Github repository for developers to obtain detailed information and to access the latest version of the source code.
