With OpenCms 7.0.5, a number of issues and security problems that persisted in the 7.0.4 release have been fixed. Some new features have been added as well.

OpenCms 7 is a major upgrade, and it vastly expands the features of OpenCms 6.

New features in OpenCms version 7:

Support for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, DB2, AS400 and HSQL databases included
The link management has been greatly improved with the new "Content Relationship Engine" (CRE)
Native support for WebDAV access to the OpenCms VFS
Publishing of resources is now done using a queue, so a user can continue to work after publishing has started
The concept of "Organization Units" (OUs) has been added to the internal user management
System permissions are now based on a complete new set of "Roles"
Many usability improvements for the OpenCms Workplace have been made
JSP 2.0 and Servlet 2.4 are now used by default

Who should use this OpenCms 7.0.5 distribution download?

Use this download to install the latest stable version of OpenCms from scratch. We recommend everyone who uses an earlier version of OpenCms to update to the 7.0.5 release. In case you are using one of the previous versions (OpenCms 7.0.x, 7 alpha, beta or release candidates), there have been a lot of issues fixed in the final release.

If you want to upgrade an existing OpenCms 6.x or 7.0.x version, please use the OpenCms 7.0.5 upgrade Wizard download also available from this website.

Please note: The *.jar files in this binary distribution have been compiled for Java 1.5. If you are using Java 1.4, you also need to download the OpenCms 7.0.5 Java 1.4 compatibility package.

The OpenCms 7.0.5 Java 1.4 compatibility package is needed for OpenCms installations running with Java 1.4 versions. It contains the OpenCms core *.jar files compiled for Java 1.4.

This is an additional download only required for Java 1.4 systems. You also need to download the full 7.0.5 Distribution to install OpenCms.

Please have a look at the readme.txt file in the downloaded zip archive for details about the installation process.

OpenCms 7.0.5 Upgrade Wizard

This OpenCms 7.0.5 update wizard allows an almost automatic update to version 7.0.5 from the following previous OpenCms versions:

6.0.0 - 6.0.4
6.2.0 - 6.2.3
7.0.0 - 7.0.4

This version will only work for MySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL based OpenCms installations.

Please have a look at the readme.txt file in the downloaded zip archive for details about the upgrade process. Before you use the upgrade wizard, please make a full backup of your OpenCms installation.

Who should use this 7.0.5 upgrade download?

Use this download to update from an existing OpenCms 6.x or 7.0.x installation. For a new, fresh installation of OpenCms 7.0.5, use the full distribution version.

Please note: This update wizard is not intended to be used for any non-stable version of OpenCms to version 7.0.5.

Please note that the latest version of the source code is available in the CVS repository. This download is identical to the "build_7_0_5" CVS tag.

Contributors to OpenCms should work with the CVS HEAD version in order to make integration of contributions in the main distribution easier.

The Alkacon OpenCms Add-On Module Package (also called OAMP) is a set of free, open source extension modules for OpenCms. Alkacon OAMP adds front-end related features to OpenCms that may be useful in case special functionalities are required.

The Alkacon OAMP modules are made available free of charge as open source from Alkacon Software GmbH, the company also responsible for most of the development of the open source core OpenCms system.

The Alkacon OAMP modules are installed on a standard OpenCms system. The source code for the OAMP modules is available in the public OpenCms CVS tree.
