With version 8.0.3, many important and useful additional features and improvements have been added to the OpenCms 8 core system and a number of issues that persisted in the 8.0.2 release have been fixed.

Main improvements in OpenCms 8.0.3

With the introduction of "Function Pages", JSP based dynamic pages can be added with simple drag and drop in the sitemap editor.
The sitemap editor's improved "Create Page" dialog offers a wider choice of types distinguishing "Container Pages", "Type Pages" and "Function Pages".
It is now also possible to select the page model when using the sitemap editor's context menu option "Create Sub-Page".
The available container page models can be accessed for editing directly from the "Create Page" dialog in the sitemap editor.
The sitemap editor executes the "Show Page" action if the page icon in the sitemap is clicked.
JSP function elements can now have multiple formatters to be used in different containers.
The element option bar displays a "Resource is currently locked" icon if an element is currently edited by another user.
The content galleries have been improved with a text search field to directly search for "Galleries" and "Categories".

Who should use this OpenCms 8.0.3 distribution download?

Use this download to install the new version 8.0.3 of OpenCms from scratch. We recommend everyone who uses OpenCms to update to the 8.0.2 release. OpenCms 8.0.3 is fully backward compatible to all prior 7.x versions. Templates and other OpenCms developed code from version 7.0 or 7.5 should work "out of the box" with version 8.0.3.

If you want to upgrade an existing OpenCms 7.5.x, 7.0.x or 6.x version, please use the OpenCms 8.0.3 upgrade Wizard download also available from this website.

Please note: The *.jar files in this binary distribution have been compiled for Java 1.5.

This OpenCms 8.0.3 update wizard allows an almost automatic update to version 8.0.3 from the following previous OpenCms versions:

8.0.0 - 8.0.2
7.5.0 - 7.5.4 (*)
7.0.0 - 7.0.5 (*)
6.2.0 - 6.2.3 (*)
6.0.0 - 6.0.4 (*)

(*) This version will only work for MySQL, Oracle and PostgreSQL based OpenCms installations.

Please have a look at the readme.txt file in the downloaded zip archive for details about the upgrade process. Before you use the upgrade wizard, please make a full backup of your OpenCms installation.

Who should use this 8.0.3 upgrade download?

Use this download to update from an existing OpenCms 8, 7.5.x, 7.0.x or 6.x installation. For a new, fresh installation of OpenCms 8.0.3, use the full distribution version.

Please note: This update wizard is not intended to be used for any non-stable (beta, Github based) versions of OpenCms.

Please note: The *.jar files in this binary distribution have been compiled for Java 1.5.

Please note that the latest version of the source code is available from Github at github.com/alkacon/opencms-core. This download is identical to the "build_8_0_3" tag.

Contributors to OpenCms should work with the Github HEAD version in order to make integration of contributions in the main distribution easier.

Alkacon OpenCms Add-On Module Package (OAMP)

The Alkacon OpenCms Add-On Module Package (also called OAMP) is a set of free, open source extension modules for OpenCms. Alkacon OAMP adds front-end related features to OpenCms that may be useful in case special functionalities are required.

The Alkacon OAMP modules are made available free of charge as open source from Alkacon Software GmbH, the company also responsible for most of the development of the open source core OpenCms system.

The Alkacon OAMP modules are installed on a standard OpenCms system. The source code for the OAMP modules is available in the public OpenCms CVS tree.

OpenCms 7.0.5 Java 1.4 compatibility package

The OpenCms 7.0.5 Java 1.4 compatibility package is needed for OpenCms installations running with Java 1.4 versions. It contains the OpenCms core *.jar files compiled for Java 1.4.

This is an additional download only required for Java 1.4 systems. You also need to download the full 7.0.5 Distribution to install OpenCms.

TFSLA BASIC WORKFLOW (THREE STEPS)

Technology for Solutions has developed a three steps Workflow for OpenCms v7.x. Easy to use and deploy, this module aims to solve the content authoring, approval and publication process. TFSLA Basic Workflow is a commercial module currently FREE.

This module was built using native OpenCms functionality and enable users to include any type of content on the workflow process. The main functionalities are:

3 steps workflow: content generation, approval and publish
content approval and rejection
workflow roll-back on content editing already on 'approval' stage
e-mail notification on each workflow stage
detailed workflow history
configurable workflow steps names
configurable resources to monitor at the workflow engine
multi-language
