Alexander is CEO of Alkacon Software GmbH and leading OpenCms core developer.

Being the original architect, Alexander invented OpenCms back in 1998. Since then, he is an active developer and contributor to the project. He also was responsible for the "open sourcing" of OpenCms in 2000. End of 2001, he founded Alkacon Software with the goal to focus exclusively on high quality OpenCms consulting and development. Today, Alkacon Software is the official maintainer of the OpenCms core development, currently serving over 100 customers all over the globe.

Working with OpenCms since more than 10 years, Alexander has been involved in literally hundreds of OpenCms projects worldwide. He also has developed significant portions of the OpenCms core system, for example the XML content API, the full text search integration and the image scaling.

When not in the office, Alexander enjoys indoor cycling, movies and playing with his little daughter.

    Apr 13, 2022 - OpenCms 13 features a new plugin system as a more flexible replacement of the "headincludes" functionality. Geo search functionality has been added to find contents by geo coordinates. Extensions to the template variant mechanism allow setting overrides and renaming of formatter keys. There are also refinements for the "Mercury" default template as well as security improvements.

    Oct 12, 2021 - OpenCms 12 features a headless JSON API for REST content access, together with several JavaScript demo applications that show how to use it. The default "Mercury" template has been greatly improved. Template variants allow to completely switch the generated HTML of a website simply by configuration. The updated WebDAV implementation enables mounting the OpenCms virtual file system from any WebDAV client.
