The site provides a common repository of information to facilitate communication within and between different organisational units within the client company. Its primary aims are to facilitate knowledge-sharing among employees across the EMEAR region and to assist with the ongoing education of staff on company products, policies and processes.
Integration with the OpenCms framework provides functionality for users to perform actions such as editing their profile, administering other user profiles, adding, deleting and editing content and automatically generating contact list pages from registration data held within OpenCms. These functions are performed via the web application but can also be performed via the OpenCms Workplace application.
The site uses a common template to provide a consistent layout throughout the intranet with CSS styles being applied for subnets to provide a distinctive look to each organisational unit’s content. A spend management subnode has also been developed that auto-calculates overall savings across the region from data entered locally by staff using these templates.
