The Development Demo Module is a set of well documented, easy to understand use cases for OpenCms 8.

In comparison to the "Template III" the Dev Demo Module is limited in functionality and design, but makes a good reference for developers looking at the source code.

Main features of the Dev Demo Module:

  • Adressing the OpenCms Developer, this self-explaining module demonstrates basic techniques for OpenCms 8
  • An introduction to the new concepts brought with OpenCms 8, like Formatters, Settings and Group Containers.
  • Demonstrates how to scale images dynamically or paste scripts (e.g. Facebook Like button, PayPal, etc.) in the XML content editor

The module is released as full Open Source under the GNU GPL version 3.

  • OpenCms 17 gives content managers the new app "Date search" to find content that has been changed in a certain time range. The "Websites" app allows to easily export the content of a complete site for archiving. An option has been added to hide "sensitive" content in the Offline project. The default Mercury template has been further improved, e.g. with SEO optimized job postings, a "spacer" function and marker clusters for maps. OpenCms 17 has also been tested and certified using Java 17 LTS and 21 LTS.
